FACA Commends USDA’s Progress on Growing Climate Solutions Act Implementation

AFBF Staff

The Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance (FACA) is encouraged by the release of USDA’s General Assessment of the Role of Agriculture and Forestry in the U.S. Carbon Markets. The release of this report marks the first step in USDA’s implementation of the bipartisan Growing Climate Solutions Act, which was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.

Passage of the bipartisan Growing Climate Solutions Act was a top priority for FACA last Congress, and we are pleased to see USDA making progress on its implementation. Voluntary carbon markets offer an opportunity for farmers, ranchers and forest owners to be compensated for reducing their environmental footprint. FACA continues to support the establishment of a USDA program to ensure producers have access to reliable information and resources.

Our members look forward to reviewing the report in full and are committed to working with USDA on its efforts to assist producers interested in exploring voluntary market opportunities.

FACA members are united in support of climate policies that are voluntary, market-based and scientifically sound. Read FACA policy recommendations and see the full list of member organizations at agclimatealliance.com.
