A USA Today article about U.S.-Canada trade talks examines how milk has “moved to the forefront of President Donald Trump’s escalating trade dispute with Canada.” Trump recently put the Canadian milk industry on notice that its protectionist measures will have to be scrapped. David Salmonsen, AFBF’s trade specialist, told USA Today that the North American Free Trade Agreement has been “generally effective” for U.S. agriculture but Canadian milk pricing policy remains an “unresolved, sticky issue.”
