MarketPlace quoted AFBF’s Don Parrish, senior director of regulatory relations, in a story about the administration’s new clean water rule. The new rule is important, MarketPlace noted, “because it decides what waterways are federally protected.” Commenting on the concerns many in agriculture had with the soon-to-be-replaced 2015 waters of the U.S. rule, Parrish described its central tenet as “an extremely broad and overreaching definition” that resulted in farmers struggling on their own to determine if standing water in a field was a federally protected wetland.
