Farm Bill Could Help Climate Smart Initiatives

A new farm bill has the potential to create expanded funding for climate smart agriculture. Agriculture represents only 10% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, but programs within the farm bill can help farmers continue to adopt practices to lower emissions further.

Managing Director of Government Affairs Ryan Yates spoke to USA Today about the farm bill renewal, saying, "The continued investment in sustainability, be it conservation, nutrient management or climate smart agriculture ... is about the long-term viability of the American agricultural industry.”

Yates continued, "It’s an exciting time to be in agriculture. Any farmer today will tell you they want to leave their farm to the next generation better than they’ve received it."
