A CNN Money article on a merit-based immigration system under the Trump administration quoted American Farm Bureau Federation’s Kristi Boswell. In explaining what merit-based immigration could mean for America, CNN Money noted that a U.S. immigration system “focusing solely on highly skilled immigrants won’t help industries like farming and construction that rely heavily on low-skilled workers.”

Boswell, a director of congressional relations, said, “We still have a lot of questions for what [Trump’s merit-based immigration system] means, but it opens the door for Congress to start having more substantive conversations that could lead to legislation that could provide a legal and stable workforce for our farmers.”
