#WomenInAg Spotlight: Sine Kerr

#WomenInAg recognizes the contributions of women involved in agriculture during Women’s History Month (March). AFBF is proud to salute state Sen. Sine Kerr (R-Ariz.) an Arizona farmer and Farm Bureau leader!

Kerr serves on Arizona Farm Bureau’s board of directors and also chairs the organization’s Women’s Leadership Committee. A graduate of AFBF’s Women’s Communications Boot Camp, she advocates on behalf of Arizona farmers and ranchers whenever the opportunity arises.

Kerr was elected in a special election in January to represent district 13 in the Arizona Senate after the legislator in the seat resigned to run for the U.S. House seat formerly held by Trent Franks. She serves on the Arizona Senate’s Natural Resources, Energy and Water Committee and the Transportation and Technology Committee.

Her public service also includes serving on the Buckeye Valley Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors and as a member of the Arizona Department of Agriculture’s Food and Agriculture Policy Advisory Council, which works to address food insecurity issues in the state.

“When passion for your livelihood meets leadership training and preparation, there is no limit to what opportunities are available,” Kerr said recently, commenting on the importance of grassroots involvement in an Arizona Farm Bureau feature article.

Kerr and her husband Bill started their dairy business with 15 cows in 1980. Today, thanks to a lifetime of hard work and dedication, they and several family members care for 1,100 milk cows and 800 replacement heifers on Kerr Family Dairy.

In addition to agriculture, Kerr’s other passions include family and children’s issues, caring for and serving military veterans (five consecutive generations in her family have served in the military), and education issues.
