#WomenInAg recognizes the contributions of women involved in agriculture during Women’s History Month (March). AFBF is proud to salute Lou Nave, a Tennessee farmer and Farm Bureau leader!
Nave is a graduate of AFBF's Women's Communications Boot Camp and was elected to the AFB Women’s Leadership Committee in January. She also serves as vice chair of the Tennessee Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and chairs Tennessee Farm Bureau’s Equine Advisory Committee, in addition to serving as an Agriculture in the Classroom workshop coordinator for Tennessee Farm Bureau. Nave’s grassroots connection to Farm Bureau remains strong, as she also serves on her county Farm Bureau board of directors.
A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, Nave puts her education to good use as executive director of the Farm Animal Care Coalition of Tennessee. The coalition is composed of leading Tennessee agricultural organizations, individual farmers and others — all working together to assure the sustainability of the Volunteer State’s diverse animal agriculture community.
A sixth-generation farmer, Nave lives on land that has been in her family for over 150 years. Along with her husband Glenn, and daughters Hannah and Emily, she raises commercial beef cattle, market lambs and Tennessee Walking Horses.
The American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Program engages women with the training and education they need to become powerful advocates for today’s agriculture. The program provides women with leadership training, communication skills and networking to strengthen their ability to encourage positive change in their communities and in the agricultural industry.
