Brittany Ivey of Georgia chairs the Stephens County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee and is a strong advocate for agriculture. This includes conveying the concerns of farmers to local officials working on zoning projects in her community.
Ivey was recently invited to participate in a listening session on healthcare with physicians, small business owners and farmers in Washington, D.C., hosted by President Donald Trump. During the session, she shared her story about how the rising cost of healthcare due to the Affordable Care Act has affected her family.
Ivey was an invited guest of Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) at the Address to the Joint Sessions of Congress last month, after she shared with him how the ACA impacted her family when she was forced to go to the Exchange for health insurance. The White House heard her story and invited her to this week’s discussion.
Ivey says participation in Farm Bureau discussion meets and involvement with YF&R activities prepared her to hone her message to share with her members of Congress and the president.
