Kentucky Farm Bureau Offers Nearly 200 Free Wi-Fi Locations Across the State

Kentucky Farm Bureau has activated a free, public Wi-Fi internet signal from all 197 of its locations statewide. KFB’s free Wi-Fi initiative is part of the American Connection Project, a nationwide effort led by Land O’ Lakes to bring attention to the lack of rural broadband availability across the country. The American Farm Bureau Federation is also part of the effort.

“Reliable broadband internet service, especially in the rural parts of our state, is something that far too many Kentuckians still don’t have access to in their homes,” said Mark Haney, Kentucky Farm Bureau president. “In a world that now demands video meetings, virtual events and continual email communications – not to mention the tens of thousands of students who are about to start their new school year from home – internet connectivity is a must. We want to help ease that burden for some of our fellow Kentuckians through this initiative.”

Kentucky Farm Bureau’s free, public Wi-Fi spots are among more than 2,300 free Wi-Fi locations offered by American Connection Project partner organizations and identified on the project’s recently launched interactive Wi-Fi map, which helps people in 49 states find the free Wi-Fi locations.

Along with Kentucky Farm Bureau’s locations, the map includes Wi-Fi locations offered by Land O’Lakes and its ag retail owner network, as well as 4-H, CentraCare, Compeer, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Polaris, the Public Library Association, Tractor Supply Company and Watch Communications, and support from Microsoft and Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company.

The American Connection Project Broadband Coalition represents companies and organizations involved in agriculture, energy, financial services, health care, education and technology. The group is strongly advocating for robust federal investment in broadband internet connectivity to advance telehealth, distance learning, precision agriculture and the tremendous economic value that comes with internet connectivity.
