Amy France: Still Farming in Kansas

Like millions of Americans, Kansan Amy France is adjusting to the new realities of life as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, including social distancing, kids home from school, the closing of non-essential businesses and suspension of organized activities of all kinds. But as a farmer and grain elevator manager – both of which are classified as essential – she’s still on the job.

“We remain committed to providing safe and healthy food for neighbors near and far, as well as our own family,” France explained.

With beef calves to raise and fields to ready for planting wheat, sorghum, corn and soybeans, she and her family have a lot on their plates. But France is undeterred from her role as an advocate for agriculture.

France is a Kansas Farm Bureau leader and graduate of American Farm Bureau’s Partners in Advocacy Leadership program. She was the first woman elected to the National Sorghum Producers’ board of directors.
